The National Museum of African American History and Culture Presents: ‘Muse: Cicely Tyson and Me: A Relationship Forged in Fashion’
Don’t miss renowned designer B. Michael as he discusses his memoir and shares stories about the deep friendship that formed between the late actress Cicely Tyson and him. ‘Living the Dream … Singing the Dream’ at the Kennedy Center
Join Washington Performing Arts and the Choral Arts Society of Washington for a choral tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. on Sunday evening. There will be song, inspirational stories, and special tributes by community leaders. Choral Arts will also present the Humanitarian Award to José Andrés for his contributions to society (in particular, the World Central Kitchen). More information on the event can be found here.

Celebrate America’s first president, George Washington, at his home Monday. Admission tickets will be given on-site once guests arrive and mansion tours are first come, first served. Learn About the Story of Chocolate with the National Museum of the American Indian
At this event Saturday and Sunday on the National Mall, you can learn about the story of chocolate and its roots beginning with a small cacao tree deep in the history of Mesoamerican culture. See the Opening Weekend of ‘Cinderella: A Salsa Fairy Tale’ at Imagination Stage
“Cinderella: A Salsa Fairy Tale,” dubbed “a bilingual Cinderella with a twist,” introduces main character Cenicienta, a girl from Puerto Rico, who visits her stepsister Rosa in the U.S. The show runs through April 7 at Imagination Stage in Bethesda. More information can be found here.
See ‘Tempestuous Elements’ at Arena Stage
See the 11th in Arena Stage’s Power Play cycle, “Tempestuous Elements,” which tells the tale of Anna Julia Cooper, who was a visionary Black feminist and educator in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The play shines a light on Cooper’s tenure as principal of Washington, D.C.’s historic M Street School. It was there she fought to keep Black education alive, despite sexism and racism that tried to undermine her efforts. More information on the play can be found here.
Folger Theatre in Association with Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company Debuts ‘Where We Belong’
“Where We Belong,” directed by Mei Ann Teo and written and performed by Mohegan Theater-maker Madeline Sayet, will be on stage at Folger Theater now through March 10. The play is produced in association with Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company and after debuting in 2021 for on-demand streaming, has toured across the country. Its final stop is the Folger.
