Arena Stage Artistic Director Hana Sharif to Speak, March 21

•Hana S. Sharif, who became Arena Stage’s fourth artistic director in 2023, following the 25-year tenure of Molly Smith, will speak at The Georgetowner’s March 21 cultural breakfast at the Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC. Artistic director of the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis from 2018 to 2023, Sharif was the first Black woman to lead a major regional theater. Prior to St. Louis, she was in Baltimore as associate artistic director of Center Stage. Sharif has a B.A. from Spelman College, in her birthplace of Atlanta, and an M.F.A. from the University of Houston, in the city where she grew up.
At the March 21 breakfast, Sharif will talk about her vision for community engagement and share highlights of the 2024-25 season, the first she has programmed at Arena’s Mead Center for American Theater, home to the 680-seat Fichandler Stage, the 510-seat Kreeger Theater and the 202-seat Arlene and Robert Kogod Cradle.
Since 2014, The Georgetowner has presented 55 insider talks by leaders of area museums, theater and dance companies, performing arts venues and other cultural organizations.
