Olympian Home, Anyone?

Mike and Lisa Weiss are talented individuals. Michael is a two-time Olympian and U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Famer who partnered with Lisa on his choreography routines. He has since retired from figure skating, but along with Lisa, has put his passions into the duo’s business: The Wine Cellar Company. Mike’s contractor experience combined with Lisa’s creative design skills has the two building custom wine cellars, bars, basements, kitchens and more. Additionally, they renovate McLean, VA homes.

Mike and Lisa recently renovated their own personal home, which brings us to our featured property: 7126 Merrimac Drive. The 8,400 square foot home listed for $3.5 million and was listed for just five days before being scooped up and currently contingent.

The home was purchased by the Weisses three years ago, and they spent that time upgrading the home. A particular noteworthy addition is an imported custom chandelier that is suspended 25 feet in the center of a grand staircase.

Lisa also designed a custom wine bar with floating backlit shelves on either side and luxe blue porcelain slabs added for just the perfect touch of color.

Mike added a bit to the garage too (since he completed many a project there), including recessed lighting and a thermostat-controlled heater.

For those who love entertaining or perhaps have big families, the kitchen can accommodate a large gathering and the basement is big enough for a gaming area, home theater and wine bar. There’s also a fully equipped gym which is where Mike displayed his three National Champion medals, and the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics torch he carried.
