Real Estate: Noteworthy 2024 Listings Around Town, So Far

•UrbanTurf recently released its annual look at area real estate markets. According to the report, Georgetown has continued to remain one of the priciest neighborhoods in the city. The average home price from January through March is just over $2 million, a number that is up 21 percent compared to January, February and March 2023. Cash sales remained high with about six in 10 transactions. Overall sales are about 10 percent lower than last year, with 39 total so far. About 33 percent of homes sold in 10 days or less in 2024. The median price per square foot is $837, up 14 percent from 2023. Here are a few noteworthy homes we reported on in the area this year, with links to each story.
- Prospect House Hits Real Estate Market for Almost $16 Million – The fourth oldest home in Washington, D.C., is up for sale, and it just so happens to be in Georgetown. Prospect House, located at 3508 Prospect St. NW, is currently listed by Kim Gibson and Eileen McGrath of Washington Fine Properties for $15,995,000.
- Google’s Eric Schmidt Buys Jackie House – Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and his wife Wendy purchased the historic mansion where widow Jacqueline Kennedy resided in 1964 at 3017 N St. NW, Politico first reported. The Schmidts paid $15 million at auction in November.
- Real Estate: Dianne Feinstein’s Former Spring Valley Home Hits Market – Former home of the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) is hitting the local real estate market with a hefty price tag of $8.5 million. The home, built in 1950, will be marketed by Washington Fine Properties’ Ben Roth.
- Real Estate: C. Boyden Gray House Hits Market – The historic property at 1534 28th NW has stood for over 100 years as the Robert Dodge House, named for a prominent Georgetown family. Dodge was a merchant and shipper and a consulting engineer for the C&O Canal. Listed by Jamie Peva, Nancy Taylor Bubes, and Lenore Rubino of Washington Fine Properties.
