See the Black Pumas at Wolf Trap

Seven-time Grammy nominees Black Pumas will be appearing at Wolf Trap Sunday evening. They will be performing songs from their 2023 album “Chronicles of a Diamond” at the Filene Center. Opening act Lamont Landers will be beginning the night with singing and soulful guitar riffs. More information on the show can be found here.
The Mubadala Citi Open Begins Saturday

Don’t miss the only combined ATP-WTA 500-level tennis tournament in the world Saturday through August 4. The event will be at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park. Expect to see Grigor Dimitrov, three-time Grand Slam semi-finalist and 2023 D.C. semi-finalist, Karen Khachanov, two-time Grand Slam semi-finalist and World No. 22, and others. Mubadala Citi Open Chairman Mark Ein said in a press release on the event: “We have assembled a fantastic group featuring Grand Slam Champions, former World No 1’s, top 10 players and many of the game’s biggest fan favorites. In less than a month, DC will host one of the summer’s largest events, drawing the world’s best players and tennis fans. With record breaking ticket sales, an impressive roster of athletes and an extraordinary fan experience on-site, we are anticipating another unforgettable tournament.” More information on the event can be found here.
There’s Sharks in the Water at The Wharf

Shark Bites & Brews will be at The Wharf this Saturday from 5-8 p.m. At the Transit Pier, enjoy all things shark with shark-themed games and a mechanical shark to ride on. There will also be a doughnut eating contest and live music from 7 Deadlies Band. More information on the event can be found here.
Catch “Back to the Future: The Musical” at The Kennedy Center

Now through August 11, the popular ‘80s movie “Back to the Future” gets the musical treatment at The Kennedy Center. Enjoy the tale of Marty McFly, who finds himself back in 1955 via a time machine built by scientist Doc Brown. McFly accidentally changes the course of history and now music is set to his race against time to fix the past and present and get himself back to the future. Blink-182 is Stopping by Capital One Arena

Don’t miss the popular ‘90s and early ‘00s pop punk band Blink-182, who will be performing at Capital One Arena. The multi-platinum band, consisting of Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker, is touring their new album “One More Time…”. Take in the Exhibit “Ruffled Feathers: Creating Whistler’s Peacock Room” at the National Museum of Asian Art

The National Museum of Asian Art is hosting an exhibit that offers visitors the ability to explore the opportunity to see intimate and formal portraits artist James McNeill Whistler made for the Leyland family. The portraits show the personal relationships that both grew and broke apart over the course of the Peacock Room’s creation. There will be additional paintings and design examples from Leyland’s home that will help visitors see how Whistler incorporated motifs sourced from Asia.
