Business Ins & Outs: Glowbar, Gold’s Gym, Monstera; Hobo Bags


This week, you can now get a facial, take a cardio class and grab a breakfast burrito. Also, a big congrats to Lutéce and Apero, which won at the Rammy Awards.

Need a facial this week? You’re in luck—a new option will be available Saturday (ribbon cutting is Friday at 12:30 p.m. with founder and CEO Rachel Liverman) . Glowbar, the facial membership studio, is opening its first D.C. location at 1533 Wisconsin Ave. While memberships are $60 per month and include one monthly facial and discounted skincare products (and a free guest pass once each year!), you can stop in for a single facial at $75 for 30 minutes. Note: founding memberships at the upcoming Wisconsin Ave. location are being offered at $55 for a limited time. The new locale is its 14th iteration, with others located in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Get your sweat on at the now open Gold’s Gym in Georgetown Park (just below the D.C. DMV office at 3270 M St. NW). In addition to your typical gym equipment, there are weekly classes offered in Vinyasa yoga, Bodypump and more. Pre-sale memberships are currently being offered for $39.99 bi-weekly with a one-year agreement, or $49.99 bi-weekly with a month-to-month agreement, both of which include access to over 20 area locations.

Sometimes, you just need a breakfast burrito. Monstera, a West Coast-inspired burrito joint is operating inside Grace Street Coffee at 3299 K St. NW. The shop will be dishing out breakfast burritos (and some lunch options too) Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Start at the top of the menu with the “Breakfast boi,” which includes housemade chorizo, bacon, barbacoa or cumin-roasted aubergine, scrambled eggs, peppers and onions, cheese, salsa fresca, crema Mexicana, and crispy fries and salsa verde. Salivating yet?

Out: Hobo Bags

The female-founded, family-run bags and accessories company opened in late September 2022 and recently closed. The business was located at 1265 Wisconsin Ave. NW. If you’re still looking for new accessories or leather goods for the upcoming fall season, you can still find all of Hobo’s offerings on their website.

Coming Soon: Rimtang

Thai street food eatery Rimtang is opening soon in Georgetown. 1039 33rd St. NW. Chef Saran “Peter” Kannasute is known for sushi hotspots Yume in Arlington and Kyojin in Cady’s Alley. Expect to see food like spring noodles, curries and stir fries with dinner costing between $35-$55 per person and around $25 lunches.

The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) announced their 2024 Rammy Award winners last week. Two of Georgetown’s own won awards, including Lutéce (1522 Wisconsin Ave. NW) for Upscale Restaurant of the Year and Apero (2622 P St. NW) for Wine Program of the Year.
