Missouri-born Abstract Expressionist Stephen S. Pace (1918–2010) studied in Mexico under the G.I. Bill, then in New York with Hans Hofmann. This untitled oil on canvas of 1957 was obtained directly from the artist by the consigning owner. Measuring 66 by 90 inches, it is signed, dated and numbered 57-29.

Born in Montana in 1940, Jaune Quick-to-See Smith is an enrolled member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. Over the past 30 years, there have been more than 80 solo exhibitions of her work, which addresses current issues facing Native Americans. This item from her “Cheyenne” series, in mixed media and collage, is signed and numbered in graphite.

These unique platinum and black onyx cufflinks, c. 1930, depict an automobile, a sailboat, a locomotive and an airplane in single-cut, baguette and fancy-shaped diamonds. Part of Doyle’s July 25 Fine Jewelry auction, the pair sold for nearly $18,000, many times the estimate.

Carved Tobacconist Figure of Actor Edwin Forrest

This carved figure of actor Edwin Forrest (1806–1872) in his role in “King of the Wampanoags” was a gift of Mr. and Mrs. Harry G. Haskell to the Brandywine Museum of Art in 1979. Derived from the lithograph “E. Forrest as Metamora,” published around 1855 by Nathaniel Currier (1813–1888), the piece was sold to benefit future acquisitions and collections care.

In a Christie’s online auction of fine and rare wines, this set of 12 bottles of Côte de Nuits, Grand Cru, from a prominent New England collector sold for well above the high estimate. The lot, with consecutive bottle numbers #19801-06 and #19819-24, was noted as having a “good appearance,” with two slightly stained capsules.
