After 40 Years, Gold Cup Moves to Glenwood Park

The International Gold Cup announced that it will run the 2024 races on Sunday, October 27 at Glenwood Park in Middleburg. Here is everything you need to know:

  • The National Steeplechase Association revoked the sanction for the 2024 Gold Cupo to run at Great Meadow due to the racecourse to be “in disrepair and unsafe.”

  • The original date was Saturday, October 26 and was moved to the 27 due to the Mille Miglia USA Warmup auto race in Middleburg October 22-26.
  • Al Griffin, co-chair of the Virginia Gold Cup Association said in a press release: “This is the same road traversed by most attendees to Glenwood Park. We realized the need to move our race date when we learned about the Mille Miglia in Middleburg. The two events in Middleburg on the same date just didn’t make sense. Sunday is a better day to ensure horse vans, trailers and spectators can effectively get to the racecourse.”

  • Those who have tickets will have them honored at the new venue or refunded and will receive information soon from the International Gold Cup office.
