November keeps the music warm and inviting in clubs and concert venues in and around Washington, D.C. Check out these night spots as we swing our way into the holiday season.
DORADO SCHMITT & SONS Nov. 10 Strathmore Music Center
Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli shook the cob webs off the Parisian music scene with their Hot Club of France quintet, founded 90 years ago in 1934. That “gypsy jazz” sound returns to the Washington area, when Dorado Schmitt and sons Samson and Amati, bring their swinging, happy sounds to the Strathmore, Nov. 10. Schmitt, celebrated guitarist and violinist, has dedicated his career to preserving Jazz Manouche, as his family evokes the romantic ambiance of Parisian cafés, delivering infectious rhythms and heartfelt songs that celebrate their rich musical heritage of Jazz Manouche. I guarantee a smile on your face as the Schmitts pere et fils bring their passion to this timeless art form. Tickets at strathmore.org.
