Stock Up Your Freezer for Winter with GMS’s “Chicken Pot Pie-a-Thon”

Georgetown Main Street’s Chicken Pot Pie-a-Thon is back for its fifth year. The event, hosted by Chef Jenn Crovato of 1310 Kitchen & Bar, has 30 percent of the proceeds for orders placed through this online order form going to GMS.

“[The] Chicken Pot Pie-a-thon is our main fundraiser every year,” said Georgetown Main Street’s Executive Director Rachel Shank. “We don’t ask much from the community, but when we do, it benefits our organization and a local business.”

The signature chicken pot pie is 23 oz., and includes roast chicken, peas, carrots, shitake mushrooms, celery and spinach all baked in a buttery crust. The pie serves 1-2 people and freezes well for a few months.

Pies are solid frozen, and they should be baked for one hour at 350 degrees. They are going for $22. The extended menu includes items like mac and blue cheese, a spring vegetable pot pie, penne with lamb ragu, and much more. One can also buy Chef Crovato’s cookbook “Olive Oil, Sea Salt and Pepper.”

Shank and her husband have already ordered five chicken pot pies earlier this month and have since eaten three of them. “There are no preservatives or other additives, so you end up with a delicious handmade meal once it’s warmed up at home,” she said. “We may end up participating in the ‘thon’ twice this year and placing another order!”

Georgetown Main Street’s goal is raising $5,000 with this event.
