Remembering Stephanie Flanagan

Former Georgetown resident Stephanie Flanagan passed away peacefully at the age of 66 on Oct. 18. Stephanie, along with her husband Larry, were generous supporters of the Citizens Association of Georgetown. Larry recently served as CAG vice president and treasurer.

Stephanie was born in New York City and raised in Abington, Penn. She attended Lafayette College and earned a bachelor’s degree in French (which sparked a lifelong love of the language and French culture). Before Larry and Stephanie moved to Washington, D.C., nearly a decade ago, the couple resided in Connecticut for 20 years.

Stephanie had lots of passions, including travel, art and music. She never said no to a fun party, and she was a loyal friend and a caring mother. Above all, her proudest accomplishment was being grandmother to four grandchildren. She loved buying outfits for all of them.

Stephanie and Larry were known as devoted friends and neighbors in the community. CAG Executive Director Brittany Sawyer called Stephanie’s death a “deep loss for the community.”

A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Georgetown at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25. Before Mass, there will be a period of visitation at the church beginning at noon. Holy Trinity Catholic Church is located on 36th St. NW between N and O Streets. Interment will follow the Mass at Oak Hill Cemetery 3001 R St. NW.
