Lombardi Women Celebrates Breast Cancer Patients, Researchers

Lombardi Women: Connecting for a Cure has grown into a dynamic, strong and unstoppable fundraising effort in its 18 years of existence. The organization has netted over $5 million in donations for breast cancer research at Georgetown University’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.

During its recent fall event at Capital One Hall in Virginia, stories were shared at a discussion that featured breast cancer survivors and their doctors. Before the discussion, attendees honored medical oncologist Dr. Candace Mainor, MD, who received the Davis-McDuffie Innovation in Breast Cancer Research Award. The award was named after longtime volunteers Janet Davis and Barbara McDuffie and supports future leaders in breast cancer research.

The event raised over $290,000 for the Nina Hyde Center for Breast Cancer Research at Georgetown Lombardi. A photo gallery from the event can be found below.
