Legacy on Ice Benefit to Aid Reagan Plane Crash Victims

Monumental Sports & Entertainment, along with U.S. Figure Skating and production team Entertainment Gang, are hosting a live figure skating event on March 2 to support and honor the families and loved ones affected by the plane crash at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on January 29.

The event will be co-hosted by Brian Boitano and will include appearances by skaters Tara Lipinski, Johnny Weir, Scott Hamilton, Kristi Yamaguchi and more.

“Entertainment Gang and U.S. Figure Skating came to Monumental Sports and Monumental Sports broadened the conversation to bring in the Community Foundation and D.C. Fire & EMA to address the needs of all the families,” a Monumental Sports and Entertainment spokesperson told The Georgetowner.

Monumental Sports engaged in a conversation with Entertainment Gang, who had lots of experience in cause-related entertainment programming. Legacy on Ice was created to support the victims of the air tragedy near DCA. “We quickly coordinated with three non-profits, U.S. Figure Skating, the Community Foundation and D.C. Fire and EMS, providing care to the families and first responders on the idea,” the spokesperson added.

If you’re interested in attending the event or perhaps donating if you’re unable to make it in person, visit capitalonearena.com for tickets and monumentalsports.com/legacyonice to donate. The event will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 2, with doors opening at 2 p.m.
