Jack Evans Gets Another D.C. Job

Former Ward 2 Council member Jack Evans got another job in the D.C. government — this time, it’s as a housing and development project manager for the Department of Housing and Community Development.

With his financial talents and years of experience on the Council, the job looks like a pretty good fit for the Georgetown resident, who told The Georgetowner the he could not comment on his new position and referred the newspaper to the D.C. Housing Department.

The department’s operating budget for fiscal 2023 was $99,000,000. Its mission is “ to create and preserve opportunities for affordable housing and economic development and to revitalize underserved communities in the District of Columbia.”

Evans’s new employment was first reported by City Paper.

Since his resignation from the District Council in 2020, Evans has remained active in political and social circles.

Evans participated in a D.C. sports study within the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development that looked on how to maintain and build sports facilities for the city, including a possible NFL stadium at the RFK campus.

He is a former volunteer on the Commission on the Arts and Humanities —appointed by Council Chair Phil Mendelson last year —which funds arts programs throughout the city.

Evans has not run for political office since leaving the Council but has not completely ruled out any future runs.
