The grand hall of the historic National Building Museum was where Senators and Representatives traded suits and dresses for aprons on May 14 for the annual March of Dimes Gala.
Long tables were lined with fresh ingredients, each Congressional representative station reflecting the hometown pride of a District or State.
From Texas spare ribs to Florida-style tempura shrimp and South Carolina macaroni and cheese balls, the air was thick with the mingling aromas of democracy and competitive spirit.
The challenge? Each member of Congress would prepare a signature dish from their Congressional District and State, and judged by the March of Dimes’ supporters.
The stakes were high, not for political gain, but for the cause of saving children, as all proceeds from the night would go toward the organization, ensuring children across the country will have a fighting chance.
