Flavors of Summer Shine at D.C. Restaurant Week


Beginning today and running through Sunday, August 24 is Metropolitan Washington Summer Restaurant Week. Brunches and lunches will be $25-$35 and dinners run at either $40, $55, or $65. Here are 10 highlights (in no particular order) to check out this week. Happy eating!

  1. Immigrant Food – With multiple locations in NW D.C. and Northern Virginia, Immigrant Food is offering $25 lunches and $40 and $55 dinners. Menu highlights include a Thai noodle salad, Caribbean shrimp ceviche and a tasty burger with their secret harissa sauce. Best of all, Restaurant Week menus will be extended to August 31.
  2. Tony & Joe’sIf you prefer to stay close to home, Georgetown’s longstanding seafood place at Washington Harbour is offering $25 lunches and $40 or $65 dinners. Start off with a cup of Boston clam chowder, enjoy a Chesapeake style crab cake and top off your meal with a warm brownie a la mode, just a few of the options available.
  3. a.kitchen+bar DCJames Beard Foundation restaurateur Ellen Yin, along with Chef Eli Collins, are participating in their first Restaurant Week. There will be $35 brunch and lunch offerings and $65 dinners and the specials will run an additional week, August 25 through September 1. Brunch main courses (of which there are nine options) range from biscuits and gravy to cornmeal pancakes to egg frittatas.
  4. L’Avant GardeThe Georgetown French restaurant is doing $65 dinners, which include a lobster-themed prix-fixe menu. The main course is lobster thermidor, a half lobster browned with parmesan and served with turmeric turned potatoes on a tarragon sabayon.

  5. CentrolinaThe popular Chinatown area Italian restaurant is doing $65 dinners extended through August 30. Don’t miss delicious summer flavors like a peach and heirloom tomato gazpacho and end your meal with desserts like a sesame-butterscotch budino.
  6. Fiola MareAnother Italian favorite, Georgetown’s Fiola Mare will be doing $35 brunches, $35 lunches and $65 dinners. Their lunches are particularly refreshing, with a three-course meal with choices like a Thai snapper caprese salad, goat cheese ravioli and sweet corn panna cotta with dessert.
  7. JINYAThe ramen bar is doing $25 brunch and lunch and $40 dinner menus. Highlights include crispy rice with spicy tuna and brussels sprouts tempura, wonton chicken ramen and matcha tiramisu for dessert.
  8. CUT by Wolfgang PuckThe steakhouse is doing $35 lunches and $65 dinners. An American Wagyu bavette (aka flank steak) and fries finishes perfectly with a summer cherry strudel served with crème fraiche ice cream and almond crumble.
  9. Del MarThe Spanish hotspot at The Wharf is doing brunch, lunch and dinner. Highlights include a paella de verduras with bomba rice, bell peppers, cauliflower, garrafon butter beans, artichokes, broccolini and roasted carrots, and chocolate hazelnut churros for dessert.
  10. RasikaThe longstanding restaurant’s West End location is offering upscale Indian food for $35 for lunches and $55 dinners. Check out mouthwatering palak chaat, chicken makhani, halibut curry and more.
