The National Women’s Foundation hosted a vibrant evening honoring the legacy of New Orleans jazz and its profound influence on American music. Held in the Whittemore House grand, chandelier-lit ballroom at 1526 New Hampshire Ave. NW. The Sept. 26 event welcomed guests with the warm hum of anticipation and the unmistakable energy of celebration.
As the Thad Wilson Band entered the spacious venue, their presence alone signaled the start of something special. With horns gleaming and rhythms ready to roll, they launched into a soulful set that paid homage to the birthplace of jazz—New Orleans.
“From the syncopated swing of early Dixieland to the rich improvisations that shaped modern jazz, the performance traced a musical lineage that continues to inspire generations, “said event chair Cliftine Jones.
The event not only spotlighted the cultural significance of jazz but also celebrated the women—past and present—who have shaped its story. It was a night of music, memory and movement, echoing the enduring spirit of New Orleans in every note.
