Business Ins & Outs: Google, Lil Sweet Treat, Salt & Sundry

In: Google Store on M Ready to Open

A brick-and-mortar Google Store will open by this weekend or next week, according to various reports, at 3235 M St. NW. The store sells Google products, including phones and Chromebooks, of course, and offers device repair and other tech support.

“EastBanc is excited to welcome Google to Georgetown,” landlord Philippe Lanier remarked earlier. “The arrival of Google not only solidifies the neighborhood’s reputation as a premier hub for innovative shopping experiences and cutting-edge brands but provides many shoppers the first opportunity to touch and feel these incredible products while surrounded by Google experts.”

Other Google locations include two in New York City and one each in Boston, Chicago and Santa Monica. The Georgetown store is its eighth.

Lil Sweet Treat, founded by Elly Ross in New York, opened Nov. 22 at 3285 M St. NW. Check the high-end gummies from Sweden, Belgium, Spain, Germany and elsewhere that you choose and shovel in a bag to be weighed. Just be careful in this darling shop about how much you put in your bag! It sweetly adds up.

In: Salt & Sundry

A 14th Street favorite, Salt & Sundry opened a holiday pop-up at 3144 Dumbarton St. NW. We’re told that it’s a “trendy oasis for artisanal pantry items, plus a curated array of barware, linens & cookbooks.” Looks like a fun spot for easy Christmas gifts.

Coming: Uniqlo on M

After a little bit of musical chairs going on with some retail locations, the Japanese casual wear retailer Uniqlo is set to return to Georgetown at 3262 M St. NW, formerly the spot for J.Crew, which moved to 3077 M St. NW, formerly the corner spot for Brooks Brothers and Showfields.
