A Mirror of the Cosmos

February 9 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm EST

Free

Join us for a post-screening discussion with filmmaker Isabelle Carbonell, in person.

A Mirror of the Cosmos explores how the Mar Menor lagoon, a beachside paradise located in southeastern Spain, is being pushed to the brink of extinction by the climate crisis. Opening with a conversation between the moon and the sea, the documentary explores how the unlikely relationships between invasive blue crabs, nitrates, and mining deposits in Mar Menor deeply intertwine to tell a larger story of capitalism’s extractive, cumulative effects on the environment over time. (Isabelle Carbonell, 2023, Spanish with English subtitles, 85 minutes)

Presented in conjunction with the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital (DCEFF).

Free. Registration required.
