Description:
The Glen Echo Park Partnership is pleased to present “Abstractly Speaking,” featuring the work of six artists who paint together in the Advanced Acrylic Abstract Class at Glen Echo Park. The artists work in a creative and supportive environment, while listening to their own voices and following their own direction. They have all mastered the basics and beyond, and in this environment, they can consolidate and experiment. The class got its start under the late Helen Corning. Although Corning passed in 2011, her vision continues to inspire. The course is currently led by Carol A. Jason, and this exhibition features her work, along with work by Holly Stone, Larry Kamlot, Tom Gannon, Judith A. Baldinger, and Nina Graybill. “Why abstracts?” asks Jason. Because abstracts “allow the artist to go straight to the subconscious and paint from an emotional place.”
