The Alexandria Symphony Orchestra opens its 2018-2019 season in September with an elegant mix of grand and intimate symphonic works. The concert begins with Michael Torke’s joyful and majestic work Javelin, co-commissioned by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Committee. The program continues with two works featuring violinist Alexander Kerr, including Dvořák’s Romance in F Minor and Saint-Saëns’ Introduction and Rondo capriccioso. The concert concludes with Beethoven’s critically-acclaimed and patriotic Symphony No. 7.
