Bachata for Everyone – BASICS and BEYOND: Mondays 7:00-8:00pm
Class Description: Bachata is a romantic Latin dance originating in the Dominican Republic. In this Bachata series we will cover the timing, footwork, and partnering fundamentals that are essential to experience incredible connections in social dance settings. The music is vibrant, inspiring, and full of percussive energy and heartfelt instrumentals. You will learn drills, patterns, and styling that you can instantly use alone or with a partner as you dive deeper into this amazing dance. The class is perfect for you, new and beginner dancers who have little or no experience. Simultaneously, more advanced dancers will revisit these principles, but will be given additional nuances to improve precision, efficiency, and enhance their creativity.
We will learn the following:
•Connection: Framing, points of contact, tension/resistance, handholds and angles, body-positioning, non-contact communication, hearing the music (musicality)
•Partnering/Patterns: Basic Step, spot turn, inside and outside turns, open connection, pattern phrasing, hair-combs/loops, under-arm passes, walks, and “silent talking” with the body
•Footwork/Timing: Body core engagement, foot anatomy and placement, hips and knee control, Basic Step (forward/back, sides, & in-place), precision turns, rhythm variations, etc. musicality that makes sense, and more
