Cancer Support Community Hosts Inaugural Comedy for a Cause fundraiser in Washington, D.C.
What? Cancer Support Community (CSC) is hosting Comedy for a Cause, a benefit event that will harness the power of comedy to celebrate resilience and community while raising funds to help the organization provide vital services to people coping with a cancer diagnosis. Nationally touring comedian and prostate cancer survivor Corey Manning (The Apollo Theatre) is the MC and joined by a lineup of local comedians. Guests can expect to dine on delicious pub fare, bid on exciting auction items, and experience the power of laughter.
Who? CSC is a global nonprofit that uplifts and strengthens people impacted by cancer by providing support, fostering a compassionate community, and breaking down barriers to care. Services are available at no cost to people coping with a cancer diagnosis over the phone, online, and in person at 196 network partner locations, including Cancer Support Community Washington, D.C.
When? Wednesday, April 30, 2025, 5:30 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.
Where? The Comedy Loft of DC, 1523 22nd St NW, Washington, DC 20037
Why? The need is urgent. In 2024, approximately 2 million people will be diagnosed with cancer in the United States (National Cancer Institute). Cancer patients are nearly 5 times more likely to experience bankruptcy. Washington, D.C. has one of the highest reported death rates due to breast and prostate cancer in the nation and is ranked highest in overall cancer mortality. The services and resources provided by CSC are vital to people coping with the challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis.
CSC serves over 725,000 unique individuals annually, providing $50 million in services at no cost to patients, survivors, caregivers and their loved ones.

For loved ones coping with a cancer diagnosis who don’t live in the DMV or residents who are providing long distance caregiving, help is just a phone call away. CSC’s Cancer Support Helpline is staffed by navigators and resource specialists who can connect callers, regardless of their location, with helpful resources and services.
