Russian composer Alexander Kastalsky wrote a profoundly beautiful and hopeful requiem to commemorate the diverse nations and faiths of the Allied lives lost in World War I. He finished the complete seventeen-movement work in 1917, “Commemoration for Fallen Brothers,” and it will receive its world premiere at this concert.
The Cathedral Choral Society is honored to partner with three choruses on this national project around the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day. Featuring the combined voices of the Cathedral Choral Society, The Clarion Choir, The Kansas City Chorale, and The Chamber Choir of St. Tikhon’s Monastery, joined by the Orchestra of St. Luke’s and led by guest conductor Leonard Slatkin.
