Clothed Figure Drawing with a Live Model

Artists traditionally spend a lot of time drawing the nude human form because it’s the fastest way to develop an understanding of human anatomy. Problematically, a lot more goes into creating artwork about people than just understanding anatomy. This class will be focused on drawing models with clothing; understanding how fabric folds across the human form and how changes in pose, lighting, and clothing change the narrative of the artwork. Clothed figure drawing is generally considered more challenging as clothing obscures the human form, but drawing the clothed figure opens artists up to a world of narrative-focused art and helps students practice a form of drawing with everyday application.
