Curator Walkthrough of WATER IN THE GAS

August 2 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT

Join us for a curator-led tour of WATER IN THE GAS, which places artists living and working in what is widely considered to be an unprecedented moment in US history in conversation with artists whose lives and careers were impacted by some of the most defining power struggles of the 20th century. Anisa Olufemi, Director of Programs and Curator, Hamiltonian Artists, will guide guests through sculpture, photo, textile, and installation-based works by Hamiltonian Artists alumni Misha Ilin, Madyha J. Leghari, Edgar Reyes, and Isabella Whitfield—highlighting their connections to permanent collection works by Josef Albers, Max Beckmann, Fernand Léger, Joan Mitchell, David Park, and David Smith.

This exhibition, presented under The Collaborative, invites viewers to consider the ways in which socio-political pressures give rise to generational implications. Set to take place in our lower level galleries, the tour will be about 45 minutes in duration with time allotted for audience questions.
