Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the nation’s leading infectious disease expert, will receive the National Museum of American History’s signature honor, The Great Americans Medal. The medal presentation will be followed by an interview with Philanthropist and Smithsonian Regent David M. Rubenstein. The virtual ceremony is open to the public by registration at: https://smithsoniannmah.swoogo.com/gafauci. The medal will be presented by the museum’s Elizabeth MacMillan Director Anthea M. Hartig for Fauci’s lifetime dedication to public health and humanitarianism. An advisor to seven U.S. Presidents, Fauci is the director of the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and is at the forefront of the country’s efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic.
