Escape from Between the Lines: Jeanne McManus and Sara Maddox
The Glen Echo Park Partnership is pleased to present “Escape from Between the Lines,” featuring paintings by Jeanne McManus and Sara Maddox. McManus and Maddox have escaped the narrow, black-and-white lines of professional editing and writing to find a world of color, concept, and experimentation. Once unburdened from their career obligations, they each found a world of freedom – one that also requires skill and dedication – but a more liberating one that the written word simply could not provide. In their paintings, they crack open the visible world and rearrange its parts in new forms and colors, often seeing human forms and stories emerge as they apply paint to canvas.
