Learn fundamental drawing and printmaking techniques in this 3 day mixed media workshop. This class will examine the work of influential painters and sculptors during the abstract expressionist movement in addition to methods of mark making as language. Students will learn various relief printmaking methods including gyotaku and frottage, two ancient techniques for capturing and archiving objects. We will experiment with destruction and reconstruction of works as a conceptual tool, as well as the introduction of textiles/natural elements as form.
This workshop is perfect for anyone who has an interdisciplinary workflow or is looking to branch into collage and sculpture.
