Jewelers’Werk Galerie is pleased to present For Ever, an exhibition featuring a captivating brooch collection crafted by internationally acclaimed artist-jeweler Beppe Kessler. The show opens on Saturday, January 5, 2024 and will remain on view through February 1, 2024.
Kessler’s pieces stand as miniature sculptures—”little treasures,” as she calls them—woven with narratives that traverse time and emotion. Each unique brooch is a synthesis of disparate elements—fine metals and stones delicately entwined with fragments of history, whispers of nature, and echoes of personal stories. In For Ever, Kessler explores a revised perspective on accumulated objects upon recovery from illness. “What do you do with all those half things that lie in drawers, stored in boxes: damaged, broken, kept, worthless and of value… Jewelry that you no longer wear, made of gold or silver, worn links, broken clasps. There are memories…I’m putting them all back in the spotlight. I prefer to immortalize them forever. I isolate or disassemble them, I combine them and give them a second life in a composition with pearls and rabbit droppings sprinkled in between. Together they grow into new, tiny stories in the form of a brooch. New life.” the artist muses.
Beppe Kessler is a contemporary jewelry maker and painter who lives and works in the Netherlands. Kessler graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam with a degree in textile art and industrial textile design. She has won multiple prestigious international awards and exhibited worldwide. Kessler’s pieces are represented in the permanent collections of notable museums throughout the world, including the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Montreal, the Cooper-Hewitt and Museum of Arts and Design in New York, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
