This tour will take you on a winding journey through an era in which the U Street neighborhood of Washington, DC was the center of a rise in African American music and intellectualism. The sound of jazz was everywhere, Langston Hughes and Jean Toomer were upcoming writers and poets, and an effort to document the history of African Americans was underway.
The tour makes a halfway stop at the famous Ben’s Chili Bowl for a bathroom break and optional refreshment.
