Washington, DC –
Around the dawn of the 20th century, Washington, DC, and the United States of America was a hot bed of activities deemed to be sinful. Gambling was rampant, prostitution was legal, and violence was just another part of life. Millions of individuals engaged in and with the criminal world, some innocent victims and others willful perpetrators. Immerse yourself in the world of criminal sin and discover the secrets of Congressional Cemetery’s interred residents in this year’s Soul Strolls.
Soul Strolls, Congressional Cemetery’s annual twilight tours, will explore the stories of individuals buried here through guided tours and costumed interpreters. Participants will experience the history of the hallowed ground exactly the way it should be experienced in October – in twilight and darkness, happening upon vignettes and individuals in a lantern lit walking tour led by one of our expert guides
