This nifty outdoor performance by Jane Franklin Dance offers light hearted fun, plenty of inventive movement, and bridges over into several generations with performers spanning a 50 year age difference. Reminisce as you laugh along with “Shorthanded.” An intergenerational cast revisits technology pushed away over time. Story fragments are part of the sound score and tell of attachments to cassette tape, VHS, paper dolls, IBM 3033, and other blips on the relentless march of cultural change. On the opposite end there are fond recollections of Barbie’s, GameBoys and somewhere in between a long time ago, and ten years, there is a recollection of the “Shoot the Duck” position for roller skating aficionados.
“Auto Audio” a site specific romp to music by local composer David Schulman and the legendary The Shadows features the surf guitar favorite “Apache.” Dancers engulf the the unique shape of the Amphitheatre using the stairways to funnel movement to the stage and drawing the audience into the process.
