Delaney’s passionate call to action draws on his personal, entrepreneurial, and political experiences to echo the ideals articulated by JFK in his 1958 speech, which urged that we ”not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer but the right answer.” Currently serving his third term as U.S. Representative for Maryland’s 6th congressional district, Delaney—son of a union electrician and grandson of an immigrant—co-founded, ran, and sold two companies before he was fifty. Having realized his American dream, he turned to philanthropy and politics to help ensure that others could achieve theirs. The first announced candidate for president in 2020, Delaney here outlines the principles by which all of us can work together to build a strong, unified nation.
