“A remarkable cellist, with a piercingly beautiful tone and utterly pure intonation” – The Times
Kian Soltani is a familiar face to many Washington Performing Arts patrons, having appeared in November of last season as a soloist in the “title role” of Strauss’s Don Quixote with Daniel Barenboim and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra—earning praise from the Washington Post as “a wonderful cellist with dazzling intonation and clarity of sound extending to the instrument’s highest register.” In this much more intimate performance, he joins acclaimed pianist Julio Elizalde for a program that ranges from Beethoven’s spirited fifth cello sonata to Arvo Pärt’s mesmerizing Fratres.
