Pan American Symphony Orchestra (PASO) brings you the nuevo tango of Astor Piazzolla in a concert featuring Holly Nelson on violin, Alán Saucedo on cello and Sean Mahon on piano. Piazzolla revolutionized traditional tango by incorporating elements of jazz, using extended harmonies, dissonance, and counterpoint. He also introduced instruments not typically associated with traditional tango music, such as the flute, the electric guitar, saxophone, and even a drum kit! With Maestro Buslje’s exciting arrangements, PASO has been carrying on the traditions of Piazzolla’s nuevo tango ensembles for over three decades and has made a name for itself as one of the best tango orchestras in the world.
