Pop Up Grocer, a traveling grocery store designed for discovery, is making its DC debut. Opening Friday, May 6 in DC’s Union Market neighborhood, Minor Figures will be one of 120+ select brands featured. The month-long pop-up will showcase its selection of the newest and most innovative, better-for-you products.
Pop Up Grocer creates an environment that still feels like a grocery store – product, shelves, fridges – but intends to stimulate your senses and take you out of your normal, routine shopping mentality. They create a backdrop for exploration with a space that is friendly, inclusive and inviting, complete with colorful shopping baskets, curated shelves and in-store bakery.
Minor Figures’ full line of Oat M*lks will be featured at Pop Up Grocer. The plant-based, dairy-free products contain no refined sugar and are made to produce a neutral, balanced flavor that knows how to compliment the roast profile of any coffee thrown its way. Minor Figures attributes its popularity to daring to bring innovative experiences to environmentally savvy coffee lovers. The sustainably minded company is carbon neutral and recently became B-Corp certified – an official recognition of the social and environmental ethos that has guided the company from the beginning.
Emily Schildt, Pop Up Grocer Founder & CEO, shares why she chose DC as the traveling store’s next destination, “We’re excited to return to the East Coast and to open in the Union Market District, specifically. DC’s food scene has become a national treasure. Over the past decade, there’s been a wave of risk-taking chefs opening new concepts, alongside tenured fine dining and real-deal multicultural restaurants. It’s an honor to contribute to DC’s innovative spirit, if only for a brief period of time.”
Pop Up Grocer will be open for one month only — 10am to 7pm daily from Friday, May 6 through Sunday, June 5. Visit the Union Market store at 1262 5th Street NE, Washington, DC for the latest in snacks and pantry staples — like milk made from sesame, vegan mozzarella sticks, alcohol-removed wine, immunity-boosting mouth sprays — and beyond.
