A benefit recital featuring bass soloist Richard Giarusso and pianist Andrew Welch will be held on Sunday March 18 at 4 p.m. at Dumbarton United Methodist Church, 3133 Dumbarton St. NW.
They will perform Schumann’s Dichterliebe, Bach’s Amore Traditore, and several songs by Paolo Tosti to benefit the Southeast Ministry, a grassroots social justice organization addressing problems of poverty, illiteracy and violence. Admission is free, but a good-will offering will be taken. The event is co-sponsored by Dumbarton and the Georgetown Chorale.
Giuarusso is music director of the Georgetown Chorale, artistic director of the Voce Chamber Singers in Virginia and guest conductor of the Washington Bach Consort. Welch is assistant director of the Georgetown Chorale and director of music ministries at Dumbarton.
