Somewhere Over the Sea: Pottery by Eunkyung Han

January 5, 2019 @ 10:00 am - January 26, 2019 @ 6:00 pm UTC+0

Free

The Glen Echo Park Partnership is present, Somewhere Over the Sea, showcasing ceramic work by 2018 Labor Day Art Show’s Park View Artist Awardee Eunkyung Han. Han, originally from South Korea, started working in pottery as a hobby after moving to the United States and found inspiration with an influential teacher at Harvard’s ceramics studio who cultivated her enthusiasm for the art. After a several-year hiatus, she relocated to Maryland and continued her pottery career at Glen Echo Pottery. Han always admired the curved line of architect Antoni Gaudi, who said, “La línea recta es del hombre, la curva pertenece a Dios.” [The straight line belongs to man and the curved line to God.] Han incorporates her own beautiful curves in her recent work, and is inspired by intriguing natural objects.
Opening reception, Saturday, January 12, 4 to 6pm.
