D.C. Community Coming Together to Support World Refugees with Sunset Run & Candlelight Vigil on World Refugee Day June 20 Event Starts in Foggy Bottom and Culminates at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. The Run for Refugees, a D.C. grassroots organization, is holding the 3rd annual Sunset Run for Refugees event on World Refugee Day, Thursday, June 20, 2019. The public is encouraged to join the run/walk and evening candlelight vigil to show support for the world’s refugees. The Sunset Run for Refugees – a three mile run or a two mile walk – begins at the George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs (1957 E Street NW). Check-in starts at 7:00 p.m. and concludes with a “caravan of light and hope” candlelight vigil at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool at 9:10 p.m. Guest speakers will welcome and address participants at the Lincoln Memorial. The vigil encourages support for the American Refugee Committee (ARC), CARE, International Rescue Committee (IRC), and Save the Children.
