“Soon” features a reclusive 20-something woman and her goldfish, Herschel, confronting the imminent end of the world due to the evaporation of all the planet’s water. Despite its seemingly gloomy premise, the show is as uplifting as it is engaging, thanks in part to Caplin’s directorial deftness–and to the considerable talents of both the professional and student casts.
“Soon” was written by DC native (Bethesda) & Broadway writer-musician-performer Nick Blaemire–and the Highwood Theatre production will be directed by award-winning director-choreographer-dancer Cate Caplin, who grew up in Washington. Blaemire, Caplin and Highwood Executive Director Kevin Kearney attended Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., making “Soon” the first show on which all three alums have collaborated.
Performance times Friday, 8 p.m., Saturday, 2 & 8 p.m., Sunday, 2 & 7 p.m.
