IN Series and Heritage Signature Chorale join forces in a first ever staging of Nathaniel Dett’s epic masterpiece, in which music and theater, chorus and soloists, surround and immerse audiences in an embodied spiritual and artistic experience. Collaborating with DC musicians, dancers, and visual artists, are a cast of nationally recognized vocalists. A sacred space is transformed with the paintings of Richshaad Ryan into a sanctuary of melody and meaning. Select audiences can begin their experience with a one-of-a-kind DC guided walking tour telling the history of this extraordinary work and the DC places and stories that have united to bring it to life.
