We will be making a specialty cocktail in her honor, learning Frida facts, and exploring the museum’s collection and archives for all things Frida. The Library and Research Center team will be giving a behind the scenes look at Frida’s letters to her mother and curators will be highlighting other women artists who were inspired by Frida. Registration is required at this link: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_7AC4F8lWS0u_Sd5vaKn2Vw After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about how to join.

Featured Cocktail: The Frida Kahlo
Get ready for the event by making sure you’re ready for the specialty cocktail!

Ingredients:

1 shot of lime juice
2 shots of silver tequila (sub soda water for non-alcoholic)
1 shot hibiscus syrup (hibiscus tea + 1/2 cup sugar)
Garnish with edible flowers if available
Instructions:

For the hibiscus syrup: Bring ½ cup of water to a boil. Add 2 teabags and allow to steep for 15 minutes. Remove teabags, add sugar, and bring to a simmer again, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Allow to cool.

For the cocktail: Combine ingredients in a shaker full of ice. Shake vigorously, or stir if using soda water. Serve over ice in a Margarita glass and garnish with lots of edible flowers.

About the Cocktail:

This recipe is from the book Free the Tipple: Kickass Cocktails Inspired by Iconic Women, which pays tribute to a brilliant range of sixty diverse women from the 20th century to today. Each recipe reflects its namesake’s personality, style, legacy, or what she liked to drink herself.

Purchase the book from the museum shop on July 6 for 20% discount using the code FRIDA113.
