Whittle School & Studios welcomes you to its inaugural Whittle Talk, where professor and author Dr. Kwame Anthony Appiah will read from his acclaimed new book, The Lies that Bind: Rethinking Identity. In his new book, Dr. Appiah explores what identities are, how they define us, and how they distort our politics. Dr. Appiah is a professor of philosophy and law at New York University, pens the Ethicist column for the New York Times, is the author of the prize-winning Cosmopolitanism, and serves on Whittle’s Global Advisory Board.
Following the reading, Nicholas B. Dirks, Whittle Vice Chairman and Chancellor and 10th chancellor of the University of California, Berkeley, will lead a conversation on the book. Please register here.
