All are invited to a morning of prayer, fun and community service. A music-filled worship service kicks off the morning at 10:45, followed by a hands-on service project for all ages. Segundo de Chomón (1871–1929), the brilliant Spanish trickster and filmmaker, is frequently compared to his French contemporary Georges Méliès. Chomón’s fantastic narratives are filled with animation and special effects, surprising twists and tricks of the eye. This program features “Le Spectre Rouge” (1907), “La Guerra e il Sogno di Momi” (1917) and “Lulù” (1923), accompanied by new scores composed and performed by pianist Virginia Guastella.

Steven Reineke will direct the National Symphony Orchestra in an open rehearsal for the NSO’s annual Labor Day weekend concert at 8 p.m. This year’s program features patriotic favorites from Sousa’s “The Washington Post” march to “Armed Forces Salute” and singer Storm Large and her band Le Bonheur in a selection of American songbook standards.
