Laugh Index Theatre presents two segments in one show to answer the timeless question: Who’s Funnier, Men or Women? The Femin-edy segment features standup comediennes and sketch artists, femme-fatale improvisers and musical improvisers. In “The Heist,” three menacing but inept gangsters conspire to execute the greatest robbery of our time. The target: a piggy bank. Based in classical physical comedy, it references films from classic genres to modern blockbusters and examples of art from French Surrealism to Bugs Bunny. Rich in visual language, the story is told without dialogue, making it accessible to all.

Opera NOVA presents this one-hour abbreviated version of “Tremonisha” by ragtime king Scott Joplin. Originally completed in 1910, the opera tells the story of former slaves who are led by an 18-year-old girl to avoid superstition, take advantage of education and learn forgiveness. Also at 11 a.m.

**Gallery Talk: The Hand Print Workshop**

Dennis O’Neil’s Hand Print Workshop has fostered the work of printmakers across America and internationally, many of them leading artists from the former Soviet Union. The exhibition “The Hand Print Workshop: Twenty Years of Partnership in Print” features a wide representation of the prints created by these artists in his Alexandria studio. The panelists at the gallery talk, moderated by art historian, curator and critic Sarah Tanguy, will include O’Neil, David Chung, Steve Cushner, Alexander Djikia, Vera Khlebnikova and Renee Stout.

The Jewish Community Center’s every-other-month klezmer brunch pairs fantastic music with a delicious kosher buffet. Seth Kibel and his bands have been combining traditional Eastern European Jewish music with diverse influences for more than a decade. New arrangements of traditional melodies and original songs by members of the bands draw upon jazz, classical, world beat, rock and other musical genres to create a unique and entertaining sound. You do not need to order brunch to attend. Brunch ticket sales close at noon on the Friday before the event (after this cutoff, concert-only tickets will still be available).

**Evening Compline at St. John’s**

The ancient service of Compline will be chanted in the beauty and warmth of candlelight by the St. John’s Choir directed by organist and choirmaster Samuel Carabetta. The service takes place every Sunday in March. After the 30-minute service, attendees are invited to Blake Hall for fellowship and dessert.
