•Starting tonight, Thursday, Aug. 31, Labor Day weekend is also Harvey Relief weekend in D.C. The Lincoln Theatre will host a three-night music festival Friday to Sunday. More festivals on Saturday: the National Book Festival and DC VegFest. On Sunday, the National Symphony will present its annual Labor Day concert at the U.S. Capitol. Then, on Labor Day Monday, a tall ship will sail into Alexandria, Virginia, and a Revels parade will step off in Kensington, Maryland.

DC Dines Out for Houston
More than 10 large D.C.-area restaurant groups are planning to host “DC Dines Out for Houston” tonight, Thursday, Aug. 31. Each group or individual location will pledge between one and five percent of proceeds to a Harvey relief fund or organization. Black Family Foundation Harvey Relief Match
From Thursday, Aug. 31, through Thursday, Sept. 14, guests at all area Black Restaurant Group restaurants will be able to make donations directly on their check to be matched by the Black Family Foundation, dollar for dollar, up to $100,000. If the goal is not reached, the drive will continue. Online donations to relief efforts via the Black Family Foundation can be made here. The group’s restaurants are Pearl Dive Oyster Palace, Black Jack, Tilt Side Bar, BlackSalt, Black’s Bar and Kitchen, Black Market Bistro, Republic and Addie’s Restaurant.
Food & Beverage Fundraiser for Harvey Relief
On Saturday, Sept. 2, members of D.C.’s food and beverage community are banding together for a citywide fundraiser in support of the American Red Cross’ relief efforts. Organizers from DC Brau — which is donating 100 percent of Saturday sales to Harvey relief efforts — and Boundary Stone, among others, are reaching out to partners in the community to join them. Labor Day Weekend Music Festival
The D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities presents three nights of free music — Sept. 1, 2 and 3 — starting at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln Theatre, 1215 U St. NW. Friday artists are Flo Anito, Margot MacDonald and Laura Tsaggaris. Saturday artists are the Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra, Rose Moraes and Harold Little. Drive-In Movie at Union Market
On Friday, Sept. 1, Union Market, 1309 5th St. NE, presents a screening of the 1990 Tom Cruise hit “Days of Thunder,” in which a young hotshot stock-car driver gets his chance to compete at the top level (PG-13). National Book Festival
Book lovers of all ages will find something to enjoy at the 2017 Library of Congress National Book Festival, Saturday, Sept. 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on Mount Vernon Square. The festival will feature more than 100 authors, illustrators and poets presenting from the festival stages, including David McCullough, Dav Pilkey, Kate DiCamillo, Roxane Gay and Alice McDermott. Women’s Museum Community Day and Tour
The National Museum of Women in the Arts, 1250 New York Ave. NW, opens at noon on Sunday, Sept. 3, for a free community day. At 1 p.m., there will be a “Fierce Women” tour (originally unveiled during the Women’s March as the “Nasty Women” tour), focusing on a diverse cast of women who refused to let men define their place, thumbed their noses at the limited roles society accorded them and blazed a trail as artists, activists and innovators. Labor Day Capitol Concert
John Morris Russell will guest conduct the National Symphony Orchestra in this free Labor Day concert featuring vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Aoife O’Donovan on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol on Sunday, Sept. 3, at 8 p.m. There will be an open rehearsal at 3:30 p.m. The America-inspired program will feature marches, folk music and bluegrass-inspired songs, including O’Donovan-penned songs “Red & White & Blue & Gold,” “Magic Hour” and “The King of All Birds,” plus the Bob Dylan favorite “The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carrol.” For details, visit kennedy-center.org. 50th Kensington Labor Day Parade
At the annual Labor Day Parade in Kensington, Maryland, adults and kids of all ages are invited to march and sing with Washington Revels. The hardy band of Revelers will dress in white with multi-colored sashes, arm ribbons and flower garlands and wave bright banners, ribbon sticks and colorful props. The parade begins at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 4, at Saint Paul Park, on Saint Paul Street near Connecticut Avenue. Participation is free. To register, visit revelsdc.org or call 301-587-3835.
Coast Guard Cutter ‘Eagle’ in Alexandria
Known as America’s Tall Ship, Coast Guard Cutter “Eagle” is the largest tall ship flying the Stars and Stripes and the only square-rigger in U.S. government service. The ship was built in 1936 in Germany. At the close of World War II, it was taken by the United States as a war reparation, recommissioned and sailed to New London, Connecticut. “Eagle” will arrive at Point Lumley Park, 1 Duke St., in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, around 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 4, for a four-day visit (the ship will depart around 4:40 a.m. Friday).
