•“Staring in other people’s windows encouraged!” was the tagline for the Georgetown Business Improvement Association’s sixth annual Holiday Window Competition. When voting closed at 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, Pillar & Post — the British-themed antiques and home-décor shop at 1647 Wisconsin Ave. NW — was declared the winner, with 558 votes on the BID’s Facebook page (where photos of the windows may still be viewed).
“Am so happy to have won the competition, and I’m excited about the prize,” wrote Daphna Peled, who opened Pillar & Post last year, originally as a pop-up during Book Hill’s French Market event. The prize is a complimentary quarter-page ad in The Georgetowner, which will appear in the Jan. 10 issue.
A total of 23 retailers and restaurants competed, including, on M Street/Pennsylvania Avenue: Amina Rubinacci, BoConcept, J. McLaughlin, Olivia Macaron, Pizzeria Paradiso, Rí Rá and Sports Zone Elite; on Wisconsin Avenue: Bacchus Wine Cellar, Christ Child Opportunity Shop, Hitched Bridal Salon, Illusions Salon, Little Birdies Boutique, Martin’s Tavern, the Phoenix, Pillar & Post, Polo Ralph Lauren, Reddz Trading, Signature, Tuckernuck, Via Umbria and Washington Printmakers Gallery; and on Grace Street: Chaia and G’town Pop Up.
