High Tea at L’Occitane Georgetown

Opening Reception: ‘Open’
There will be a free opening reception for “Open,” an installation of lights and projections by video artist Robin Bell, on Thursday, Feb. 7, at 6 p.m. at the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design, 500 17th St. NW. Reflecting on the cancellation of the Robert Mapplethorpe exhibition at the Corcoran 30 years ago, “Open” is meant to serve a counterpoint to decisions regarding censorship, erasure and closure. ‘Love Songs of the Great Entertainers’
On Friday, Feb. 8, at 7:30 p.m. at the Embassy of France, 4101 Reservoir Road NW, the Russian Chamber Art Society will present “Sorrow of Love, Joy of Love: Love Songs of the Great Entertainers,” a performance by Kazakh American tenor Timur, pianist Genadi Zagor and guitarist Anna Kusner paying tribute to 20th-century Russian stars of opera, concert hall and cabaret. Chinese New Year Family Day
The Kennedy Center welcomes all ages to a free family day on Saturday, Feb. 9, starting at 10 a.m. (last entry: 3:30 p.m.), part of three days of Lunar New Year festivities. The arts and culture of China’s Guangdong Province will be showcased through calligraphy, medallion painting and traditional music demonstrations; red lantern making; marionette, Lingnan puppet and contortionist shows; a Cantonese opera exhibit and photo booth; and lion dancers. Museum of the American Indian Chocolate Festival
The annual Chocolate Festival at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, Fourth Street and Independence Avenue SW, introduces indigenous symbols and images representing cacao. La Chandeleur at Hillwood
On Saturday, Feb. 9, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens, 4155 Linnean Ave. NW, will host its annual celebration of la Chandeleur, also known as Crêpe Day. Families in France mark the halfway point between winter and spring by eating crêpes. The event includes storytelling, gallery talks, art activities and a treasure hunt. Alexandria Symphony Concerts

Chamber Dance Project: ‘Valentines in Strings’
