Arena Stage and Round House Theatre will open their doors to the community on Saturday. ‘Mean Girls’ Trivia at Duffy’s
On Thursday, Aug. 22, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., Duffy’s Irish Pub, 1016 H St. NE, will host a “Mean Girls” trivia night. Team tickets should be reserved by the team captain. Only solo competitors should reserve single tickets. Seating begins at 7 p.m., after which time seating will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Trivia at Lee-Fendall House
On Friday, Aug. 23, from 7 to 9 p.m., visitors to the Lee-Fendall House Museum & Garden, 614 Oronoco St. in Alexandria, Virginia, can test their knowledge in the garden on topics from pop culture to history. Teams may have up to six members and advance clues will be found on the museum’s social media pages. Tickets for this 21+ event are $7 (includes one drink ticket). Embassy Row Rooftop Swing Dance
The International Club of DC will present an evening of swing dancing under the stars to the Foggy Bottom Whomp Stompers on Friday, Aug. 23, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Embassy Row Hotel, 2015 Massachusetts Ave. NW. Work by local artists Patrick Kelly, Aleesha Kelly and Katie Ikeler will be available for purchase, with 30 percent of the proceeds going to Charlie’s Place, a homeless service center. Round House Theatre Community Open House
Round House Theatre, 4545 East-West Highway in Bethesda, Maryland, will celebrate its reopening and kick off its Homecoming Season with a free community open house on Saturday, Aug. 24, from noon to 6 p.m. (ribbon cutting at 11:30 a.m.). The event will include live performances in the renovated theatre and lobby, refreshments in the expanded bar and bistro, theatre workshops in the new multipurpose room and family-friendly games and crafts. Arena Stage Community Day
Saturday, Aug. 24, is also a free community day at Arena Stage, 1101 6th St. SW, from 1 to 6 p.m. A props sale (prices start at $1) runs from 1 to 5 p.m. and there will be a wine and beer garden (21+) from 2 to 6 p.m. on the rooftop terrace. Live music and aerial and acrobatic performances will take place in the grand lobby from 2 to 6:30 p.m. There will also be a series of performances and talks featuring Maurice Hines, Leo Manzari, Charles Randolph Wright, DC Casineros and Batalá Washington in the Kogod Cradle from 2 to 6:15 p.m. For details, visit arenastage.org.
Klezmer Fusion at Mexican Cultural Institute

Taste of Barbados 2019
The Barbados Association of Washington D.C. Area invites area residents to “A Taste of Barbados” on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Embassy of Barbados, 2144 Wyoming Ave. NW. ‘Assassins’ Walking Tour
Also on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 5 p.m., public historian Jess Unger will lead a 90-minute walking tour in downtown D.C. in which participants follow in the footsteps of John Wilkes Booth and other assassins, learning about the characters in Signature Theatre’s production of “Assassins” and about presidential protection. Evening With the Sanctuaries
The Sanctuaries is a nonprofit group of more than 150 artists working in a variety of media — from creative writing to hip hop to screenprinting — in the service of social change. Wild Life/Wild Art at Lubber Run
Wildlife Ambassadors from the TV show “Animal Planet” will be at Lubber Run Amphitheater, North 2nd and North Columbus Streets in Arlington, Virginia, on Sunday, Aug. 24, at 11 a.m., allowing children and adults to get up close and personal with animals from around the world and our own backyards. Then, the artists of Arlington’s Lee Arts Center will turn the nearby pavilion into an outdoor art studio for attendees to create clay versions of the animals they’ve just seen. Admission is free.
